Back for an Update

Hey, I haven't written in soooo long. I REALLY need to keep this updated :o)

I haven't done anything 'special' to my hair. Still looking for new styles though.

Right now I am in-between styles. I just took out my twist-out, detangled and put some conrows in the front and puff in the back for a reception that I attended on Saturday. My hair really needs to be washed though. I think I am going to put in some box braids for a month. But for now these cornrows/puff will have to do.

But really... I will try to keep this updated. Well, that is all for now.

Peace and blessings :o)

Been Soooo Long

Hey, it seems like it has been sooo long since I have written :o( I have still been wearing my hair in one style for one month. My last style was cornrows (see my album). I am currently wearing twists that I plan to keep in for a month as well.

I have been experimenting with some homemade products, that I will unveil soon :o) I feel like my hair is in a "getting thicker" cycle versus growing longer, but I still love it. I am really searching for some new styles. My album is soooo boring with the same styles and all. I am really going to make an effort to come up with more creative styles.

Well that's all for now... Peace and blessings.

Getting Back Into The Swing...

Okay - I am slowly getting back into the swing of things. I decided to leave my new job (I had been working there for about 5 mos) and make my part time job my full time job. So instead of having two jobs I now just have one...which leaves me with some extra time and energy to start updating my journal and gallery more often.

My hair is growing along nicely:o) I can't believe it has been a year since my last big cut. Now a year later, instead of a little over two inches I have 4 1/2 to 5 inches of length. It grew back faster than I imagined.

This time I am going to stay away from all types of coloring products. I am really curious about how long my hair is going to grow. I have decided to give it until I turn 40 (only 4 more years) until I loc it. In 4 more years I should have a substantial amount of length and should have ran through every no loc'd style imagineable ;o)

So far that is my plan for the future. For now I am just enjoying my signature style of two-strand twists and cornrows in the front. I have just completed my twists which will probably stay in for the next two or three weeks and then I will un-twist for a twist out. I have added some pictures in the Twists section of my gallery. I also added a picture of the twist-out I wore at my wedding reception/cookout...(please excuse the pic it is the only one I have of my hair that day).

Well I am off... until next time... Peace an Blessings

It's Been A Looong Time

I really need to keep my journal updated. I have been sooo busy lately with wedding/reception planning for the last month I have not gotten a chance to update. I have added just a few pictures of my "Wedding Day" Hairstyle in the Twist-Outs section of my album. I have also added a few pictures in the Events section under "For Sisters Only '05".

My wedding (June 3rd) was pretty uneventful, except for the fact that I got married :o)We just wanted it to be small and not too much fuss. We went to the Court House. I have lots of "ghetto fabulous" pictures of everyone coming in through the metal detectors. The ceremony took a little less than twenty-minutes. We are going to have a recection/cookout on Saturday, June 25th. Very casual - jeans and tees. I will be sure to post pictures of my hair :o)

Well that's all for now. Check out my pictures :o)

New Pictures

I finally added more pictures.

Check out my pictures in the Twists, Twist-Out, Braids and Client folders. I am currently wearing my signature style - cornrows in the front and two-strands in the back. I will, as always wear in this way for about two-three weeks and for the last week or two wear a twist-out.

Pictures Coming Soon

WoW how time flies...I haven't posted in a while. I will update this weekend. I am too mad at this weather though :( Where is my spring? I am ready to try some wet shake n' goes, but for now I am still sporting my two-strand twists.

I have been wearing twists for about three weeks. Next week I will wear my twist-out. I wonder if it will last as long as the last one did, for over two-weeks. Well we will see.

That's all for now...I will be back shortly

Pictures Added

I added my March Style pictures in my gallery. I attempted to do some large (four on each side) flat-twists at the beginning of the month and some two-strands in the back, but this style didn't last long. I didn't like how it turned out (so didn't take any pictures) but I did wear it for a week. The next week I re-did the flat-twists changing them into smaller cornrows that join in the back into one braid.

I planned to do the two-strands over as well, so I took them out and put them into two cornrows, but by the time I finished struggling with parting my hair and trying to gather my - not-really long enough cornrowed ends into one braid ... I was too tired to do the two-strands. I will probably do them sometime this weekend to change the style up a bit.

I also posted pictures of one of my clients in the client section of the gallery. She saw my flat-twist style (the one I didn't like) and loved it for some reason and wanted the same style. So I guess eventhough I didn't take pictures of the style you can still get an idea of how it looked. In my opinion I did a much better job on her than on myself.

That's all for now...Peace and Blessings

Updates :o)

I have added some updates to my gallery :o) I added pictures of my 2 week twist-out. This is the first time that I have worn a twist-out for two straight weeks and I think it could even go a third week. But I'm going to untangle and wash it sometime this weekend.

I loved my twist-out, it was so carefree. I dressed it up with a variety of headbands. I finally got the chance to show off some of my headband collection but I sure did get a few headaches from some. I think my head will actually love a break from them - especially after wearing some for more than 12 hours (due to working a pt job in the evenings twice a week):o)

I think I am going to put in some flat twists this time. I wanted to try a new style, but as of now I really don't feel like experimenting so I will fall back on one of my old styles - maybe some flat twists going into a bun and some two-strands hanging in the back. I am also planning on wearing this style for a month as well.

I'll be sure to post a picture or two of my new March style once I'm done.

Great Twist Out

I have been wearing the same twist-out for almost two weeks now :o) I wore my two-strand twists for three weeks and unraveled them to wear a twist-out for the lase week of the month. The twist-out turned out so well that I decided to go ahead and wear it for another week. If it wasn't for the fact that I feel I really need to wash and condition, I would actually wear it for a third week. I will post pictures soon.

Until then....

Still Wearing Twists

I added a few new pictures to my gallery. I have been working on putting some picture titles and descriptions with my pictures. Of course it is taking forever. I have to remember to do this as soon as I post pictures and not months or even years later after I have posted 39895 pictures :o( Oh well. It also gives me a chance to clean-up my gallery as well.

I have just rinsed and unraveled my twists that I have worn this month, to wear a twist-out for the remaining week and two days. I have already picked out next months style. I am still planning to wear twists for a month at a time up until the spring, but I'm getting tired of my same old style so I am preparing for a new style for March. Stay tuned for pictures :o)

Updated Pictures Coming Soon

Wow I can't believe I'm still wearing my twist-out! I will surely take pictures tomorrow after work to show how well it has held up, even through the wet snow flurries we have had :o)

My hair has gotten bigger over the past few days though. I am sooo ready to wash it. I know it is going to take forever to take down. I am going to start on Friday night. Maybe I will unravel the ringlets/kinks a little more into something like a wavy/frizzy fro and wear it like that on Saturday and then do more untangling Saturday night, wash and twist back up.

I have also been busy buying soap ingredients. I've decided to make my own natural shampoo bars. So I am just in the experimenting stages now. I will try out one of my bars when I wash my hair sometime this weekend and post my results.

Well stay tuned for updates pictures of my twist-out and shampoo bar results :o)

Interview Twist Out

I took my twists out a little early in preparation for a job interview (see pictures in my gallery). The first interview I went to back in July, I had just cut my hair and was surprised about the call. At the time, I was wearing a puff with cornrows in the front. For some odd reason I was self conscious about the style so I decided to wear little twists with a headband. Also to my surprise I got the job (part-time job) and the supervisor even complimented my hair :o)

Now this time my hair is a little longer and when I got the call to come in for an interview I was right at the last few weeks of my twists (keeping them in for a month at a time). I didn't want to take them out before the end of the month but they were getting frizzy (I don't mind the frizzies, but didn't think it would be good for the interview). So I decided to unravel the twists and wear a twist out.

The cornrows in the front of my head were also frizzy so I just put on a head band. My twist out (which I am still wearing) worked wonderfully (see pictures in my gallery). A couple of days later, I got the call that I got the job :o) Yah a full-time job with benefits and all. My first day is tomorrow. I decided to wear my twist out for the rest of the week, I will take another picture of it at the end of the week.

Peace and Blessings

More Updates

I'm back with more updates....

I had to wash my twists (the ones I did right after Christmas) because I had put in tooo much shea butter. I tried to just rinse them with Apple Cider Vinegar but they came out white :o( So I had to add some soap and actually wash them. The looked cute while they were wet, but as they dried they became very frizzy. So I ended up taking them out and wearing a twist-out for three days. Then I retwisted.

This time I decided to use Oyin's Shine and Define for my twists (check out the Oyin Site). First I washed my hair with Oyin's Grand Poo Bar, then conditioned with Oyin's Honey Hemp Conditioner. As you can see I was on an Oyin product kick :o) After conditioing I moisturized with Oyin's Whipped Pudding and then twisted with Oyin's Shine and Define.

The next morning I also misted with Oyin's Greg Juice to refreshen my twists. I just love Oyin's products. They smell terriffic and work great. The Shine and Define is my newest staple. It works just like a styling gel but it is not sticky or flaky. I am planning on leaving these twists in for the rest of the month. I posted pictures of my wash, twist-out and new twists in the gallery -- check them out.
